What is webmin?

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely. In this article, we will walk you through installing Webmin 1.470 on a Ubuntu 9.04 Server

1: Download Webmin 1.470

$ wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/webadmin/webmin/1.470/webmin_1....

2: Install dependences

$ sudo apt-get install libnet-ssleay-perl libauthen-pam-perl libio-pty-perl libmd5-perl

3: Install Webmin 1.470

$ sudo dpkg -i webmin_1.470_all.deb

4: Log into Webmin 1.470

Browse to https://host:10000 in your web browser.

(This could also be https://ip.address:10000)
