The minecraft.timashley.me minecraft server has been getting really fun lately. Lots of new users and project going on. New towns using the Towny server mod have been created and we even found a stronghold!

We've successfully been running the latest version, 1.0, with all of our bukkit plugins, for the past month with no issues what-so-ever.

XDCC-Fetch

The other night i was reminiscing about the old IRC days when i would leech a mass amount of 0day warez from various IRC channels. When i was using mIRC on Windows, i coupled it with a bitchin' XDCC bottler script called XDCC Browser. When i attempted to find the "linux alternative" for XChat, i was sad to find out no real 'Crème de la Crème' of XDCC bottlers for it. This brought me to another stand alone solution for XDCC downloading with ease on linux, XDCC-Fetch.

What is XDCC-Fetch?

XDCC-Fetch, written entirely in Ruby, is an intuitive, no-nonsense tool for searching, collecting and downloading XDCC announcements within IRC channels.

Features:

* Simple, no-nonsense user interface
* Search-on-typing
* Pack filter
* Multiple IRC servers
* Resumable downloads
* Download queues
* Parallel downloads
* Checksum comparison
* Server + channel status stored, reconnect on startup
* Download-finished popup
* It is free!

In this tutorial, i will show you how to get XDCC-Fetch running on any Linux OS.

Minecraft

If you haven't heard already, Minecraft is one of the most epic open world, sandbox, survival and crafting game to hit the Internet in ages. Even in it's Alpha stage, it's become so popular in such a short amount of time that the developers website crashes daily.

In this tutorial, i show you how to play Minecraft on any Linux OS (32bit and 64bit)

In my previous post, i walked you through getting Runes of Magic running on Ubuntu Linux via Wine. Recently, as most MMORPG games have, they updated their client and i found that it broke the game running on linux. When i would launch the game (client.exe) it would just show the background animation and not present the usual EULA and Login. A quick wine registry hack solved this issue.

Heroes of Newerth

Around July 2008, a website with a logo saying "Heroes of Newerth" and the S2 Games logo was found by a forum member and posted at the Savage 2: A Tortured Soul forums. Marc "Maliken" DeForest and other staff members have informally declared on the same forums that S2 Games was indeed developing a third title, and confirmed it is not Savage 3, and will only release further details when the project is near completion. However, it has been confirmed that the game, which is currently in a closed beta, is heavily based on the Warcraft III scenario Defense of the Ancients, boasting various improvements over the original mod such as, VoIP support, Reconnection capabilities as well as better looking graphics and models etc. On August 22, 2009 the pre-sale of Heroes of Newerth began for members of the beta. Pre-sales of the game includes name reservation, as well as additional beta keys.

As a big THANK YOU to all of the people that contribute to my site in ways Icannot even begin to repay. I have two (2) beta keys that I will give to the first two people that comment on this post. Please register an account so I have a valid email address to send the invite to!

Runes of Magic

Runes of Magic is a free massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) developed by the Taiwanese developer Runewaker Entertainment and adapted for the English and German speaking market by German company Frogster Interactive. After going through an open beta phase, the game was launched on 19 March, 2009. The game client is a free download, and there is no monthly subscription fee, because the service is funded by real money transactions (RMT) in the Runes of Magic Item Shop.

Installing RoM on Linux

In this walk-through we will be installing Runes of Magic on Ubuntu Linux via Wine (version 1.1.28 as of this article).

So today during lunch, i jumped onto Runes of Magic to start some chain quests so i can finish them up when i got home later, and i was participating in the "main" global chat.

Someone commented on my screen name, and i lol'ed back. Then got about 5 other people that jumped into chat to say they reported me beacause my screen name is "offensive".

What's wrong with my Priest named WTBLittleBoy?
