Try out Minecraft 1.9 pre-release 5 on Linux and Windows!

We're all addicted to Minecraft 1.8.1, and play a ton on s.redcraft.us public servers. Now we're running a 1.9pre5 private server for everyone to try out! I love using the new enchantments on my Weapons, Tools and Armor!



Whats new in Minecraft 1.9?

  • Several new Achievements
  • Item Repair
  • Enchantment Table
  • Enchanting System
  • Potions
  • Brewing Stand
  • Brewing System
  • Splash potions with Area of Effect when thrown, created by brewing an existing potion with gunpowder.
  • New Realm: The End
  • New Biome: Mushroom
  • Air Portal Frame in Strongholds above a 3x3 pool of lava (fixing broken Air Portal blocks using Eye of Ender creates the Air Portal to the The Ender though this feature has not been fully implemented)
  • Glistering Melon
  • Enchantments
  • Breeding
  • New baby animals
  • The Sun and Moon now rise in the east and set in the west, based on the top of maps being North.
  • The Sun and Moon have been changed and no longer appear square.
  • The Moon now has multiple phases, including crescent moon, half moon, full moon, and new moon.
  • Strongholds are slightly larger
  • Strongholds have more Chests


    Oh.. and DRAGONS!

    Update: Runes of Magic on Ubuntu Linux

    In my previous post, i walked you through getting Runes of Magic running on Ubuntu Linux via Wine. Recently, as most MMORPG games have, they updated their client and i found that it broke the game running on linux. When i would launch the game (client.exe) it would just show the background animation and not present the usual EULA and Login. A quick wine registry hack solved this issue.
